Product ingredients
Empagliflozin 12.5 mg + Metformin 850 mg
• Empagliflozin works by inhibiting the sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) in the kidneys. By inhibiting SGLT2, empagliflozin decreases renal reabsorption of glucose and increases urinary glucose excretion.
• Metformin reduces blood glucose levels by decreasing glucose production in the liver
• Metformin reduces the intestinal absorption of glucose
• Metformin increases insulin sensitivity, which leads to increased glucose uptake and utilization
Product uses
• Empagliflozin with metformin is added to diet and exercise to treat type 2 diabetes in adult patients (18 years or older) whose diabetes cannot be controlled by supplementation with metformin alone.
• Empagliflozin and metformin can also be combined with other medicines to treat diabetes. These medications may be oral or injectable such as insulin.
• In addition, this medicine can be used as an alternative to taking both empagliflozin and metformin as single tablets. To avoid an overdose, do not keep taking empagliflozin and metformin tablets separately if you are taking this medicine.
• You must continue with your diet and exercise plan as told by your doctor or pharmacist
