What is the medicine Flector ?

Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory action.

Uses of Flector 

Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, and it has many uses, the most important of which are:

• Pain reliever and fever reducer.
• Treatment of spondylitis rheumatica or rheumatoid spondylitis.
• Treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and juvenile idiopathic arthritis.
• Osteoarthritis treatment.
• Treatment of acute gout attacks.
• Treatment of tendinitis and bursitis.
• Treatment of menstrual pain, where it is used in the absence of benefit from other pain-relieving drugs and in low doses (approximately 75 mg per day), and it also works to reduce bleeding.
• Treating dental pain. Diclofenac potassium is more effective than paracetamol and ibuprofen in terms of reducing postoperative pain, such as tooth extraction and deep drilling.

Effervescent Diclofenac (powder sachets)

Effervescent diclofenac uses include:

• It is commonly used in the treatment of migraine headaches.
• It is used after dental surgeries.
• It is used to treat dysmenorrhea.

Effervescent diclofenac is contraindicated in the following cases:

• Allergy to diclofenac or any substance it contains.
• Allergy to aspirin and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
• Gastrointestinal bleeding, kidney problems, and liver problems.
• Pregnancy and breastfeeding..
• Cardiovascular disease.
• Brain hemorrhage and other bleeding problems.
• High level of potassium in the blood.

Common side effects of diclofenac include:

• nausea;
• vomiting;
• constipation or diarrhea;
• flatulence;
• headache;
• Vertigo.
• drowsiness;
• Indigestion.
• Skin rash or dry skin (when topical pharmaceutical forms are used on the skin).
• Using the treatment on the eyes may cause mild stinging or eye irritation.

You should stop taking the treatment and refer to the doctor when the following symptoms appear:

• Black or red stools.
• Blood coming out with coughing or vomiting, similar to ground coffee in color and shape.
• severe nausea;
• severe vomiting;
• stomachache.
• severe abdominal pain
• jaundice;
• severe chest pain;
• apnea
• Fever for more than 3 days.
• Sore throat.
•  Skin rash with itching.
• Violet spots appear on the skin.
• pain.
• Bloating or rapid increase in body weight.

This medicine should be used with caution and under the supervision of a doctor in the following cases:

• Bleeding disorders, such as gastric, peptic or duodenal ulcers.
• kidney stones.
• Lupus erythematosus.
• Liver diseases or disorders.
• Gastrointestinal disorders.
• Pregnancy, especially in the last months.
• Older adults, due to their hypersensitivity to the side effects that this medicine may cause.

Interactions of Flector 

It is preferable to inform the doctor or pharmacist about all medicines, herbs, vitamins and nutritional supplements before starting treatment. It is also recommended not to take the following medicines:

• cyclosporine;
• isoniazid;
• Probenacid.
• rifampin;
• secobarbital.
• sertraline;
• sulfamethoxazole;
• tenopside;
• zafirlukast.
• diuretic;
• Antifungals such as fluconazole, voriconazole and others.
• Treatments for heart disease or high blood pressure such as candesartan, losartan and others.
• Cholesterol-lowering medications such as fenofibrate, fluvastatin, or lovastatin, among others.
• lithium;
• methotrexate;
• Blood-thinning medications such as warfarin.
• Other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
• ACE inhibitors (eg, enalapril).

Flector Dosages and Methods of Use

The doctor determines the appropriate dose for each person according to his health condition, but in general the doses are as follows:

Diclofenac doses for adults

Diclofenac doses for adults include:

• The maximum daily dose of diclofenac is 100 mg/day.
• Treatment of rheumatoid spondylitis: 25 mg of diclofenac tablets 4 times a day.
• Migraine headache treatment: 1 packet of powder (50 mg) only.
• Arthritis treatment: Oral tablets 50 mg 2 to 3 times a day, or suppositories 50-100 mg a day.
• Treatment of pain in general: Oral tablets 50 mg 3 times a day.
