Inment (inement) Escitalopram 20 mg
Title:
Inment (inement) Escitalopram 20 mg – Film-Coated, Scored Tablets for Depression & Anxiety (Rx)
Overview:
Escitalopram is an SSRI that increases brain serotonin to improve mood and reduce anxiety. The 20 mg strength is the usual maximum daily dose, typically used after inadequate response to 10 mg, under medical supervision.
Indications:
• Major Depressive Disorder (MDD).
• Anxiety disorders: Panic Disorder (with/without agoraphobia), Social Anxiety Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD).
Dosage & Administration (physician-directed):
• 20 mg once daily at the same time, with or without food.
• Treatment is often initiated at lower doses and up-titrated to 20 mg based on response and tolerability.
• Film-coated, scored tablets; swallow with water (do not chew).
• Do not stop or change the dose without your doctor’s advice. Improvement usually appears within 1–2 weeks; full effect may take 4–6 weeks.
Before You Use (key warnings):
• Do not use with known hypersensitivity to escitalopram or significant cardiac rhythm disorders/QT prolongation.
• Tell your doctor about epilepsy, liver/renal disease, diabetes, hyponatremia, bleeding tendency, ischemic heart disease, bradycardia/electrolyte loss (K/Mg), glaucoma, pregnancy/breastfeeding, and any suicidal thoughts (especially early in therapy).
• Not routinely recommended for patients <18 years.
Important Interactions (concise):
• Contraindicated with MAOIs (14-day washout before start; 7 days after stop).
• Linezolid; lithium/tryptophan; triptans and tramadol → serotonin syndrome risk.
• Omeprazole/lansoprazole, cimetidine, fluconazole, fluvoxamine, ticlopidine → may increase escitalopram levels.
• St John’s Wort; aspirin/NSAIDs; warfarin/dipyridamole/phenprocoumon → bleeding risk.
• Drugs lowering K/Mg or class I/β-blocker antiarrhythmics (flecainide/propafenone/metoprolol) → serious arrhythmia risk.
Possible Side Effects: nausea, headache, insomnia/somnolence, dry mouth.
Urgent Warning: seek immediate help if you develop facial/tongue/throat swelling or breathing/swallowing difficulty.
