Minocycline hydrochloride extended-release tablets are indicated for the treatment only of inflammatory lesions of moderate to severe non-nodular acne vulgaris in patients 12 years of age and older.
Oral minocycline is an antibiotic that is used to treat a variety of conditions, such as pneumonia and urinary tract infections.
Some people also take it for acne.
Minocycline belongs to a class of antibiotics called tetracyclines, which prevent bacteria from making the proteins they need to grow.
Your doctor may prescribe minocycline if you have inflammatory acne that has not responded to other antibiotics, such as doxycycline.
Usage instructions:
Minocycline comes as a regular capsule, and a capsule filled with granules.
The capsule and the pellet-filled capsule are usually taken twice a day (every 12 hours) or four times a day (every 6 hours).
The extended-release tablets are usually taken once daily to treat acne.
Minocycline can be taken with or without food.
Drink a full glass of water with each dose.
Follow the directions on your prescription label carefully, and ask your doctor or pharmacist to explain any part you do not understand.
Take minocycline exactly as directed.
Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor.

Minocycline hydrochloride extended-release tablets should not be used during pregnancy or by individuals of either sex who are trying to conceive a child.
