Histop tablets :

It is an antihistamine that works by reducing the effect of the natural histamine in the body that is responsible for allergy symptoms (sneezing, itching, runny nose and watery eyes).

Indications:

• Chronic rash

How to use:

• Immediate-release tablets: 4 mg every 4 to 6 hours (not to exceed 24 mg/24 hours or 4 tablets per day)
• Extended-release tablets: 12 mg every 12 hours (not to exceed 24 mg/24 hours or only two tablets per day)

Warnings and precautions:

• Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to chlorpheniramine or any of the components of this medicine
• Do not take the medicine due to the desire to cause side effects such as drowsiness, especially for children (it may lead to health problems).
• Be careful not to take the drug when performing tasks that require full awareness of what it may cause of drowsiness and its sedative effect
• Use with caution in patients with liver and kidney disease and with slow metabolism
• The anticholinergic effect may cause significant confusion, constipation, or urinary problems (often in the elderly) second-generation antihistamines are a more appropriate option.
• Some sedatives may be harmfully increased when taken with chlorpheniramine
• You must tell the doctor or pharmacist if you have any other diseases such as: breathing problems (such as chronic bronchitis and emphysema), glaucoma, difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate gland, or you are currently taking sedatives, tranquilizers or any other medications.
• The medicine may cause slight irritation in children

The most common side effects:

• drowsiness (mild to moderate)
• thickening of bronchial secretions
