St. John's wort is believed to help relieve mild to moderate depression, but it should only be taken under a doctor's supervision.
St. John's wort may interact with other medications or foods that the patient is taking.
A systematic review found that St. John's wort can be effective in treating major depression.

How does St John's wort work?
